This is my original first official post from my original blog:
Welcome to Our Last Embryo. My name is Melanie and I’m almost 40! My husband and I have one embryo left from our IVF in September of 2011. You may ask why it has taken so long for us to use it, we’ve had a few bumps in the road. I’m not sure how this story will end. It seems it has come to a standstill. I have stage 4 endometriosis. One of the worst cases my surgeon has ever seen. I’ve had so many surgeries but none had helped until last year when I met my endo (endometriosis) doctor in NYC, I call him my surgeon. He Is an endometriosis specialist and does deep excision laparoscopic surgery. He had to do 2 surgeries to repair the damage others had ignored. Now a 3rd surgery is being scheduled. This disease spreads the same way cancer does! To top it off I have autoimmune issues that could be playing a part in my body’s failure to carry a baby. I wish I had someone else’s uterus. Unfortunately, to hire a surrogate costs a fortune. Most of my friends are my age and have had their children. My family members can’t help, fertility issues do run in the family. This has been an incredible struggle, mentally, physically, emotionally and financially. I’m lucky to have the support of my wonderful husband, my parents and very few friends who have stuck by me. Please continue reading as I tell you our story and our struggle to have a family. I welcome any suggestions, experiences and advice. We all have our stories to tell. Love and light.
