Reality check

There’s been a lot of suicides lately. In the news, in the Endo community and on my news feed and it’s just so heartbreaking. We lost celebrities, two young, (in their twenties) ladies and unless you suffer from what they suffered from, you’ll never understand why.
I don’t.
I mean, yes, I’ve been depressed. I was on antidepressants for over 15 years. I may have only thought about killing myself once or twice in my life. But truly, they were thoughts that lasted minutes, maybe hours, at most a day. When I’d really think about it, I was way too afraid to do anything. I’m afraid of drowning, so, the ocean wouldn’t work. I’m afraid of heights, jumping is out. You get the idea.
I’m in no way belittling what these people felt or did.
Sometimes it’s a chemical imbalance. A lot of the time it’s disease. Depression is a disease. It’s real and it’s not been “fixed” by drugs or psychotherapy.
The best we can do is reach out to each other and let each other know, you’re loved and supported.
I was able to overcome those thoughts I had. Some aren’t so lucky and are tormented daily by their own mind. Our minds have an incredible power over our bodies …
Think about that…
Now the Ebola scare.
There’s a lot going on all around us. Media loves to hype and make us even more paranoid.
If anyone has a link to suicide prevention sites, please reply to this post. Thank you.
Remember to take a few minutes, whenever you can, and breathe. Close your eyes, count slowly to ten. Breathe. Inhale for a four count, hold and release for four. Repeat at least three times. Picture all the negativity leaving your body down through your feet into the earth. She will take it gladly.
