Endo awareness month is flying by!

Wow, the 15th already! In celebration of endometriosis awareness, aunt flow arrived yesterday! Interestingly, tomorrow, I have an appointment with a surgeon to discuss a hysterectomy in the near future.

I’m almost 43, have lost two pregnancies and have a very physical job and really would love to get back to a workout routine. One week out of the month, it hurts to move! The leg pain is comparable to having legs that have been cemented to the floor with sharp pains down the legs and cramps in the feet! This is why I think it may just be adenomyosis and not endometriosis.

I’ve tried everything, but my uterus is a monster that I don’t need and never worked right anyway!

This month, I am better than last month. It’s not from medication, it’s from more meditation, reiki, crystal healings, sound healing and self healing/realizations for myself and others. Maybe I will heal myself! Now, if I didn’t bleed, that’d be great!

I know a few women who have had a hysterectomy at a young age and have asked what they could think of for me to ask the doctor.  I’m really feeling good about this. This doctor is a very experienced surgeon, he does surgery 4 days a week! He has worked at the CEC and really seems to want to help women, from what I’ve read. I figure he’d be a good one to remove my uterus and any Endo he may see!

We will see! In the meantime, wear yellow and educate others that cramps are NOT normal.

About Melanie

Melanie is your blogger! She has a history of blogging about infertility and endometriosis, so you can always ask her about that! But her passion in life is music. She plays bass and sings backing vocals. The best thing is that she has been fortunate to have met some amazing musicians over that last few years (when she got back into it). Two of them are Sly Geralds (her Partner) and Jami Gee! Separately they are both amazingly talented musicians…together? Omg! Enjoy!

I had periods like that. I would curl up in a ball and be completely unable to move due to the pain. Legs were the worst and I noticed my labor for my daughter was similar. I missed 28 days of my last year of high school just because of this. I’m diagnosed with Endo, though I had endo tissue all along the outside of my uterus (and on my bladder and bowel.) 8 days of bleeding like a stuck pig and a hysterectomy when I was 25. I kept my ovaries because I was so young and I’m glad I did. I still have some pain, but it’s nothing like before.

Good that you are getting everything else down pat! 🙂 I remember thinking all of this was so normal, and my mom wondering why I went through so much product. I remember my little brother just holding my hand and talking to me when I felt like crap, being all sweet and comforting. He was a good kid and is a good guy now too.

Hystersisters website was also awesome when I went through it because they had answers to so many questions and calmed a lot of worries, as well as helped me to prepare for what was to come.

    • It is so frustrating that women still have to deal with this kind of pain. I wish the ego of the doctors would be gone so that they could make an effort to learn excision surgery.
I couldn’t imagine having a hysterectomy at 25! Wow. You are blessed with a child! Thank you for sharing. Sending love and light sister!

I remember when I asked my female doctor after my daughter was born if I could possibly have endo. She told me there was NO possible way because I’d had a child. My uterus was covered all over the outside and other organs were as well. They were and are really ignorant and so many choose to stay that way. Should you ever need anything, even just a good word, you have but to ask.

    • Thank you. You’re blessed to have a child. If I could have one wish regarding Endo, it would be that all gynecologists would learn excision and not make fun of or insult us, for our pain. Because then, they would be educated! Don’t they have to have continuing education? I do as a licensed professional!
